At Tupelo Jiu Jitsu Kids, we provide top-tier martial arts training for kids ages 6 to 13.
Our programs in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, Mixed Martial Arts, and Submission Wrestling are designed to develop physical skills, mental discipline, and a strong sense of confidence.
Each discipline brings its unique history, techniques, and benefits to our students, creating a well-rounded training experience that prepares them for both competition and life.
Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is the foundation of our training. This grappling-focused martial art teaches students how to control and subdue opponents using leverage and technique rather than brute strength. Perfect for all body types and skill levels, BJJ builds confidence, discipline, and resilience—skills that extend far beyond the mat.
(Mixed Martial Arts)
Our MMA program combines techniques from various martial arts, including boxing, kickboxing, wrestling, and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. This well-rounded training teaches students striking, grappling, and real-world self-defense techniques. MMA is an excellent choice for students who want a complete martial arts experience and the opportunity to compete at higher levels.
Submission Wrestling focuses on grappling without the traditional gi, relying on control, strategy, and technical precision. This program is designed for those who want to refine their skills and prepare for no-gi tournaments. It’s an ideal complement to our BJJ training, challenging students to adapt and evolve their techniques.
Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, known as BJJ, is a grappling-based martial art where smaller individuals can neutralize larger opponents by using leverage and technique rather than strength.
Originating in the early 1900s in Brazil, BJJ was developed by the Gracie family, who emphasized technique and control as keys to self-defense. Today, BJJ is practiced worldwide and is recognized for its real-life applications and mental discipline.
In our BJJ program, kids ages 6 to 13 learn the foundational skills of controlling an opponent, escaping positions, and applying submissions in a safe, supervised environment. These skills not only build physical strength and flexibility but also promote strategic thinking and resilience.
Self-Defense Skills: Teaches kids practical self-defense techniques that help them feel confident in various situations.
Improved Problem-Solving: BJJ requires quick thinking and adaptability, helping children develop problem-solving skills.
Increased Focus and Discipline: Learning techniques and drills helps kids focus, follow instructions, and stay disciplined.
Physical Fitness and Flexibility: Regular BJJ practice builds core strength, endurance, and flexibility.
Mixed Martial Arts, or MMA, is a comprehensive form of combat training that blends striking and grappling techniques from multiple martial arts disciplines, including boxing, Muay Thai, wrestling, and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. While MMA’s roots can be traced back to ancient Greece with the sport of pankration, modern MMA gained popularity in the 1990s and has since evolved into a high-level sport requiring well-rounded skills.
In our MMA program, young athletes (ages 6 to 13) learn a combination of stand-up techniques, grappling moves, and defensive strategies. This program is ideal for kids who want to broaden their skillset and experience the versatility of multiple martial arts in one.
Enhanced Coordination: Learning striking and grappling techniques helps improve coordination and balance.
Self-Confidence: Mastering a wide range of skills builds confidence and encourages a positive self-image.
Versatile Self-Defense Skills: MMA training provides both striking and grappling knowledge, making it useful for various self-defense situations.
Full-Body Workout: MMA training combines cardio, strength, and flexibility for a complete physical workout.
Submission Wrestling is a unique form of grappling that emphasizes control and submission techniques without the traditional gi (uniform). It incorporates elements from Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, wrestling, and judo, requiring students to use precise body control and strategy to succeed.
This no-gi approach increases the challenge, as there’s less friction, demanding that students rely on refined techniques.
Our Submission Wrestling program, available to kids ages 6 to 13, provides a fast-paced, competitive training environment. Students focus on body control, balance, and quick decision-making, building skills that are highly valuable in competition and self-defense.
Improved Agility and Speed: Training without the gi encourages faster movement and quick reflexes.
Mental Focus: Submission Wrestling requires a high level of concentration and mental toughness, helping kids stay focused under pressure.
Body Awareness and Control: Students develop a strong sense of body mechanics, learning how to control and maneuver efficiently.
Enhanced Strategy and Problem-Solving: Submission Wrestling involves continuous strategy, helping kids think critically and make decisions in real-time.
