At Tupelo Jiu Jitsu Kids, we’re more than just a martial arts school. We’re a team, a community, and a training ground for future champions.
Our program is uniquely designed to develop not only athletic skill but also character, resilience, and confidence.
At Tupelo Jiu Jitsu Academy, we limit our class size to 45 students to ensure focused, quality training and a true team atmosphere. Spots are limited—reach out to see if we have an opening available!
With a smaller class size, each student gets the individual attention they need to master skills and progress confidently. Our coaches work closely with every child to ensure steady improvement and growth.
Our selective process ensures each child is fully committed and invested in their training journey. Tryouts are every Monday at 5 PM—reach out today to see if there’s an opening!
At Tupelo Jiu Jitsu Kids, we’re not just a class; we’re a team. A limited number of dedicated students creates a close-knit environment where friendships are formed, and everyone pushes each other to excel.
Many kids today are looking for a place to belong, to be challenged, and to grow. At Tupelo Jiu Jitsu Kids, we aren’t just teaching martial arts; we’re training athletes who compete, grow, and learn what it takes to win in life.
WHERE PASSION MEETS COMPETITION
Each program focuses on different aspects of martial arts, allowing students to find their strengths, challenge themselves, and grow in a supportive, team-oriented environment.
Whether they’re new to martial arts or looking to compete, there’s a place for every young athlete here.
Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is the foundation of our training. This grappling-focused martial art teaches students how to control and subdue opponents using leverage and technique rather than brute strength. Perfect for all body types and skill levels, BJJ builds confidence, discipline, and resilience—skills that extend far beyond the mat.
(Mixed Martial Arts)
Our MMA program combines techniques from various martial arts, including boxing, kickboxing, wrestling, and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. This well-rounded training teaches students striking, grappling, and real-world self-defense techniques. MMA is an excellent choice for students who want a complete martial arts experience and the opportunity to compete at higher levels.
Submission Wrestling focuses on grappling without the traditional gi, relying on control, strategy, and technical precision. This program is designed for those who want to refine their skills and prepare for no-gi tournaments. It’s an ideal complement to our BJJ training, challenging students to adapt and evolve their techniques.

Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) offers numerous benefits for children, encompassing physical fitness, mental development, and emotional well-being. Engaging in BJJ can significantly enhance a child's growth and development.
Physical Fitness and Coordination
BJJ is a full-body workout that improves strength, flexibility, and cardiovascular health. The diverse movements involved enhance motor skills and coordination, laying a foundation for overall physical development. A study published in the Journal of Sports Science & Medicine found that BJJ practitioners exhibit improved physical fitness levels, including increased muscle strength and endurance.
Discipline and Focus
The structured environment of BJJ classes teaches children the importance of discipline and focus. Learning complex techniques requires attention to detail and perseverance, skills that are transferable to academic and personal pursuits. According to the International Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Federation, BJJ promotes mental stimulation and discipline, contributing to a child's growth and development.
Self-Confidence and Resilience
As children progress in BJJ, they achieve milestones that boost self-esteem and confidence. Overcoming challenges on the mat fosters resilience and a positive self-image. Research indicates that martial arts training, including BJJ, is associated with improved socio-emotional skills among children aged 6-12 years.
Social Skills and Teamwork
BJJ classes provide a community where children interact, build friendships, and learn the value of teamwork. Training with partners teaches respect, empathy, and effective communication. The International Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Federation emphasizes that BJJ fosters respect, sportsmanship, and community among practitioners.
Problem-Solving and Critical Thinking
BJJ is often likened to a physical game of chess, requiring strategic thinking and adaptability. Children learn to assess situations and make quick decisions, enhancing their problem-solving abilities. The Pendergrass Academy of Martial Arts notes that BJJ develops problem-solving skills and resilience in children.
Emotional Regulation and Stress Relief
Engaging in BJJ provides a healthy outlet for energy and emotions, helping children manage stress and anxiety. The physical activity involved releases endorphins, promoting a sense of well-being. The Pendergrass Academy of Martial Arts highlights that BJJ offers stress relief and emotional regulation benefits for children.
Incorporating Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu into a child's routine offers a holistic approach to development, equipping them with valuable life skills that extend beyond the mat.
Incorporating Jiu Jitsu into Your Child’s Routine
Our program at Tupelo Jiu Jitsu Kids is specifically designed for ages 6-13, providing a supportive environment where children can grow at their own pace. Unlike many sports, BJJ allows students to focus on individual progress while being part of a team. We emphasize skill development, goal-setting, and a growth mindset, so every child can experience the joys of improvement and personal achievement. Our skilled coaches understand the unique needs of young athletes and are dedicated to guiding each student toward their fullest potential.
Why Choose Tupelo Jiu Jitsu Kids?
Our program goes beyond teaching martial arts techniques; it’s about building character. We focus on respect, teamwork, and perseverance, values that will serve children for a lifetime. When children join our program, they become part of a community that celebrates progress and encourages each student to do their best. Whether your child is new to martial arts or has experience, our classes are structured to challenge and inspire them, giving them tools to succeed both on the mat and in everyday life.
Benefits of BJJ in Everyday Life
The skills learned in BJJ translate far beyond the mat. Improved focus, better emotional regulation, enhanced social skills, and a strong sense of discipline help kids perform better academically, interact positively with peers, and develop a resilient mindset. For these reasons and more, parents are finding that BJJ is an invaluable addition to their children’s lives.
